SAM PHILLIPS– PRINCIPAL - mid 30s male. Father of Rock’n’Roll and founder of Sun Records who discovered Elvis, Johnny, Jerry, Carl, and many others including Roy Orbison and B.B. King. A charismatic figure in American music. Must have a strong stage presence and ability to command an audience. Singing is not required but a plus.
DYANNE– PRINCIPAL - mid 20s female. She was an aspiring singer and Elvis’s girlfriend. A cool, confident, great singer with a wide range. Sings solos and back-ups through the show – sings “Fever” in her alto range and covers the high soprano part. She has to be able to flip to an (A5) note on the piano. (2 A’s above middle C) It needs to be mixed or flipped to a falsetto (not belted) in “Riders In The Sky” (Johnny Cash song). Also sings “I Hear You Knockin May cover or perform as the FEMALE VOCALIST in Burn the Floor.

The performers are part of a house troupe, a family of artists who represent lively, entertaining beauty of all kinds…seductive beauty, strange beauty, non-gendered beauty. A cast who are diverse, extravagant, super-chic and multidisciplinary. Showgirls, Show-Boys, Comedy Acts, High Quality Circus Artists, Hand 2 Hand, Sward Swallower, Flying Pole, Fabulous & Fascinating Mistress of Ceremonies, Burlesque, Couture Drag, Dancers, Aerialists, Creatures, Contortionists and Clowns. Unique and inspired performers who understand how to use the stage as a showcase for imagination. Mistress of Ceremonies – This role is a female vocalist/MC. A sublime glamourous creature. Sophisticated and iconic, confident, and alluring. She is a strong vocalist and MC, able to improvise with the audience and guide the evening. Cheeky and fun yet intriguing. She is the one that everyone wants to know. A superstar. Captivating and all couture, she guides the incarnation of a modern-day disco.
Hand to Hand Act – 2 male acrobats. This act is introduced in a very tongue and cheek way as characters, and they obey the Mistress. The artists must have a sense of humor. Non-descript gender. The act must be highly skilled and sensational.
Pole and Flying Pole Artists – One male and one female. It is important that the artist is highly skilled on their apparatus but also have dance skills. Must have an outgoing and fun personality and must be a good actor, willing and able to embody a character.
Contortionist – This is a female role. The contortionist works with a handheld prop and plays with the audience, so she must be an excellent contortionist, but also be able to interact and have fun with the people around her. Strong personality and character.
Sword Swallower – Male or Female. This artist is presented as a character and will interact with the audience in a unique and chic way. Elegant, strong and captivating. Not side-show. An elevated environment and character.
Boylesque – This role is for a strong dancer who has a sense of humor. We play with gender and blur the lines. Not your ordinary striptease. A strong European influence. Out of the ordinary. Not stereotypical male stripper. Odd, theatrical, Dancers who are strong dancers in heels. Other circus skills are a plus but not a requirement.
Dancers – 2 female dancers. Very strong technicians, and life of the party. Able to interact with the crowd in a refined way. The dancers are couture and sophisticated. If the dancers have a special skill or circus arts act it’s a plus but not a requirement.
Drag – There are 2 roles for drag artists. Neither is typical Drag. Not Ru Paul style. Very Parisian underground. Non-Binary. Androgenous. Theatrical. Actor, dancer, drag artist. Strong dance skills are a plus. One role must have strong MC skills and will act as the counterpart to the Mistress of Ceremonies. Amusing, sometimes mocking characters.

Actors, Dancers, Vocalists, and multi-discipline performers.
LEADING ROLES:
IO (female - ethnicity: any) - Versatile trained actor/dancer who is athletic and agile. This character does not speak a lot; therefore, it is paramount for the artist is a good actress and is able to embody the character without speaking. The use of facial expression, gesture, and body movement to portray emotion is required. The actor must be able to express emotions in front of a live audience. The character is strong-willed but also vulnerable which makes her relatable and loveable. Dance skills required. Experience in acrobatics and/or harness work a plus.

This actor needs to be a triple threat, versatile, and have the ability to change voices while playing the various roles. The character has a strong presence, setting the tone and mood as he guides the audience through each scene. The character’s persona ranges from a motherly nurturer to a seducer, to a manipulator, to an extravagant showman, to a knowledgeable guru. The vocal range is commercial pop/rock, not Broadway.
